IDENTITY 201 Series Intro:

Sometime ago, Salem spent a lot of time exploring what God made us to be.  We discovered many years before Rick Warren coined “Purpose Driven” that we were purposed on five specific emphasizes (worship, evangelism, discipleship, service, and fellowship).  We drew up a long winded statement of purpose and off we went growing.   You could call those years IDENTITY 101.  Well, we’re the same church, but we’ve grown a lot since those days, so it’s time to re-examine ourselves. 

Identity 201 is designed to help you as an individual find God’s specific plan for your life.  By the end of this series you should be able to write out your specific “Life Objective Statement”.   And at the same time, you will be invited to help Salem Community Church, build on the foundation God has called us to.  This will be a time of discovery and re-discovery, empowerment and renewal,  and finally a significance and fruitfulness. 

There are several features of this series.

• Sunday Morning Messages: at the very least you as an individual can begin to discover the importance of finding your own personal “life goals”.  And the bigger picture, we’re going to be indirectly speaking to the need of our “Community” doing the same.
• Weekday Surveys:  We are going to send “online” surveys to dig for information regarding Salem Community Church.   These will all be brief but very important fact gathering anonymous surveys.   We really want to hear from everyone, newcomers, new believers, long-term members, anyone and everyone.  We will be sending out one survey every week – because we’re serious about collecting the needed information to help us re-evaluate ourselves.
• Small Group Involvement: The small groups will be mini-conferences that Salem paid hundreds of dollars for and you get to enjoy for free.  These mini sessions will help us think through things that will help us to be a the kind of church and Christians that enjoy the confidence that comes from knowing who we are and where we’re headed.   Besides learning cool stuff about ourselves, we’ll also have time for growing personally in community.
• RoundTable Retreats: We will have three different special retreats throughout the summer to go over all the data and ideas that we’re collecting.  And ANYONE can come an participate.  Some of our very best stuff at Salem came from Brainstorming session like this.  
• Free Materials:  We’ll supply the DVD’s and Notes for you to use each week.  There is no book with this series.
• Cool Testimonies:  You are going to get to hear some awesome stories of how God really is fulfilling lives and growing great churches.

There are several phases of this series.  This will be a summer long project.  So if you don’t want to be left out of the planning, we’ll provide a way for you to stay connected with us.  So even if you are on vacation – you’ll be able to link up to our website and participate.   So don’t feel bad if you miss a Sunday morning or a small group from time to time.  

There are FOUR main parts of this series.  The first is kind of an introspective “Who am I” thing, followed by a very important “Who are they?” thing – if you watch the series “Lost” it’s important to know who the “others” are.  About mid July we’ll have a special weekend conference to build deeper and more meaningful relationships as believers (open to everyone).   The final part is the fun part, where we are going to build some ideas together to make Salem the kind of church where God’s says, “That’s what I’m talking about.”
